Founded in the early 1930s by a small group of eight neighborhood families, La Playa Yacht Club maintains one of the oldest piers in La Playa Cove, within the Shelter Island Yacht Basin. We are located on property leased from the San Diego Unified Port District.

During daylight hours, the public may access the pier up to the locked gate. Beyond the gate, we have four 21-foot slips available to members, who may also use the float dock to swim from, or launch kayaks, SUPs, and other small watercraft.

La Playa Yacht Club, Inc. became a 501(c)(7) non-profit recreational and social organization in 2008. The specific purpose of this corporation is to encourage and foster interest in yachting, and to preserve the historical pier located in the La Playa Cove. We attract membership from many locals and others fond of “The Cove”.

We are continuing to expand the website, so check back for ongoing updates.

Be sure to check out our membership page and join La Playa Yacht Club; read our newsletters; and sign up to attend any of our upcoming events.
